The heart beats over 2.5 billion times over the course of a lifetime. At the same time, blood pressure always fluctuates during the course of a day. Yogis make it a point to regulate blood pressure through breathing techniques, postural yoga, diet and meditation. In this series of classes we attend to the rise and fall of blood throughout our practice. How does blood pressure change through the course of a day? What is your signature blood pressure? In practice, we track changes in the viscosity of blood through vasodilation and vasoconstriction in the peripheral arteries, veins and capillaries. Generally, as vascular resistance regulates, pressure is taken off the heart and people live longer. We practice SATYA sequences to help regulate cardio-vascular rhythm, at times quickening blood pressure and at other times slowing it down. In this series of continuing education SATYA classes, there will also be time for general questions and review related to SATYA teaching and practice.
